Rio de Janeiro, 14. – 18. June, 2012

Corporate Sustainability Forum Programme

The Forum is taking place in the days leading up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development – Rio+20. The objective of the Forum is to bring greater scale and quality to corporate sustainability practices and put forward recommendations for Government actions that would help achieve this goal.

Over 2,000 participants, representing business, investors, governments, local authorities, civil society and UN entities are expected. One of the speakers will also be President of UNGC of Slovenia and CEEMAN, prof. Danica Purg.

The Corporate Sustainability Forum will consist of more than 60 focused sessions on themes related to the Rio+20 agenda. These themes have been identified based on their relevance to business and its capacity to provide substantive contributions to corresponding UN objectives and are Energy & Climate, Water & Ecosystems, Agriculture & Food, Social Development, Urbanization & Cities and Economics & Finance of Sustainable Development (more). The Forum will explore each theme’s unique challenges and opportunities for business and aims to identify practical ways forward.

Forum sessions will have a common purpose and design: to spur action and stimulate greater uptake. Innovative public-private partnerships, business contributions and new commitments will be showcased for each theme. Events will be organized by a wide range of organizations, including the UN Global Compact; UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes; Global Compact Local Networks; and other selected partners (list of Partners).
