ABOUT

The United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest global corporate responsibility and sustainability initiative. Initiated by the United Nations in 2000 and currently connects close to 5000 companies and NGO’s from 120 countries that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.

The Slovenian chapter of the UN Global Compact was established on May, 24th 2007 on the initiative of Prof. Danica Purg, Dean and President of the IEDC-Bled School of Management. Originally founded by 16 companies, which represent the biggest drivers of Slovene economy, including Adria Mobil, Elektronček, Esotech, Gorenje, HERMES SofLab, IEDC-Bled School of Management, MIP, Petrol, Perutnina Ptuj, Riko, Sava Group, Salonit Anhovo, Trimo Trebnje, Vibacom, and Wine Cellar "Goriška Brda", UN Global Compact Slovenia now has 33 member-organizations.

The central goal of the UN Global Compact Slovenia is to help Slovenian companies realize strategic opportunities offered by sustainable and socially responsible practices, increasing, therefore, the overall competitiveness of Slovenian economy.

To realize this goal, the association cooperates with other Slovenian NGO's, organizes regular meetings, roundtables, conferences and individual meetings related to issues of environment, labor, human rights, and corruption, while it also offering consulting in the field of sustainable development.
